Update...

Hi all......been a bit slow with updates lately.

Finished a santa that I was making.......
This is a Threads that Bind pattern.....quite quick and easy to make.

My latest interest is Pinterest.....I just luv looking at other peoples ideas and creations.
I saw a table runner made by stitching together doileys....and what a great way to reinvent them.  This was my try.....and i have made others since.  I  now need to frequent the Op shops so that I can get a good supply of them

A week of birthdays.

This past week has been busy....work, birthdays, sewing, and of course visits with Bonnie and Bella. My son in law Trev had a birthday...not sure how old he was (just old).  We went out for a family dinner.

Trevor, Bella and Bonnie

My baby boy Adam had a birthday this week also, he turned 26. The picture below is from Bonnie and Trev's Wedding reception with some old family friends, and Greg. Adam is centre back.

I have also managed to bind two quilts that i have had finished for quite a while.
This is a pattern for a snowman alphabet that I bought when Greg and I visited Vancouver a couple of years ago........  Its hand stitched in a varigated thread.  I luuuuuv Snowmen.

This quilt is called Fairyland.  Its hand appliqued.  I sewed all of the appliqued while Greg and I were staying in Melbourne for a few weeks.  I'm pretty sure this will be given to Miss Bella.....hope she'll like it.

Latest

I was given a pattern for a Twisted Bag......first one I made was a failure as I used a small picture panel in some of the squares, and because the bag is twisted all ended up on their sides.....

But I suceeded the next time.....

They were such fun to make...and can be adapted, made bigger by using larger squares, completely different by using other fabric colour ranges.

I made this one into a basket by placing stiffer interfacing in the lining....would be great for the sewing room.

This is a little bag.

Another view.

Boring

On Saturday night Bella had a sleepover at Nannys.....on the sunday we put on her gumboots and did some gardening.....she enjoyed  being out in the sunshine, helping me pull some weeds, she also like to have a taste of the dirt every now and then......

I've done very little bit of sewing over the last week....I've had  a sore thumb/hand.....so thats my excuse.

Found a new pattern that i absolutely have to make.....its by Kookaburra Cottage, and I can just imagine it in muted colours.

This week hasnt been that exciting, just work and home......till next time.....

Some new things.....

Yesterday we received a beautiful range of Nancy Holverson fabric in.....Ive been waiting for it for a little while.  So I bought home some projects to rustle up.  There is a growth chart and  which I'm gonna make for Bella and also a couple for shop samples and a little wall hanging with her name on it.

The boys version.

These two table runners are made with the Annie Downs Christmas Panel and the co-ordinating range of fabrics.  The pattern was an idea of Jennys.  I luvd making these, and there are so many variations that you can do.

This quilt is made using a panel that you cut into 3 peices and then piece back together.
Endless possibilities with this design.

Okay updates finished, I'm off to visit my gorgeous Miss Bella.......

Sorry

Sorry for the delay in updates....but today I'll make up for it with a couple.

I have been very busy, working, visiting Miss Bella and of course sewing.

A couple of weekens ago a few of my sewing group girls got up VERY early and caught the train to Melbourne to the Quilt fair.

Simone having a little snooze.

Lots of looking was done, lots of buying also.......
My to do list has increased dramatically.

Another Day

Its a chilly morning here again today.....but gotta hold onto the thought that spring is on its way......

I have been busy and sewn two quilt tops for the shop, I've now handed them over to Jennifer who has to quilt and bind them.

I'm gonna spend a little time on my own quilt. Its all hand appliqued and its  called the Hidden Forest, its a Vintage Spool pattern.  I am doing it in different colours, and am excited to get it finished.

I'm also doing a BOM called Merry Merry Snowman...but luckily I only have to get one block finished each month.

I just love snowmen......

New Quilt

Yesterday I got back my Roses around the Garden Quilt back.  Its made with French General fabric, using a Charm square pack for the centres and a Jelly Roll for the outers.  I am at present searching for the same fabric so that I can bind it.
The picutures above show the front and the back.  Jen and Leanne at Lilylane have done a wonderful job quilting it for me.

Apologies

Sorry for the delayed update.....gotta get into a pattern for regularing posting on here.

This week was my 30th wedding anniversary.....a sad time, but lots and lots of memories.

As an avid quilter/craft aholic I always have ideas,  going around in my head.

I think I'll need to live to 200 just to get them all finished.

I've  been busy ironing on and preparing applique pieces for an adorable quilt that I am going to make. The end result will be spectacular, I'm quite excited about it.  dosen't take much to keep me happy.  Its called The hidden Forest and is designed by the Vintage Spool ( I cant post a pic as it is copyrighted).

I'm also busy stitching some squares for a small Christmas wall hanging......along with quite a few other projects that I have on the go at the moment.

The fact that I work in a wonderful quilting store LilyLane doesnt help my obsession.....

Till next time.........happy quilting..........

Soup and Savouries

What better on a cold wet day than to warm up with some home made soup......
A family favourite is Corn Chowder.....a recipe that one of the kids learned during their cooking class while at school.   I made savoury topped bread rolls  to go with it.

Corn Chowder

2 Tb chopped bacon                     2 T flour
1/2 C chopped onion                    2 C milk
3/4 C diced celery                     1 can creamed corn
1 C diced potato                       chicken stock
3 shakes cyenne pepper
2 C water

Lightly fry  bacon, onion and celery.  Add potato, cook a minute.
Add stock, seasoning and water.  Cover, simmer until vegies are crisp cooked.
Add milk.  Blend a little milk with the flour, add, stir until boiling.
Add creamed corn.  Adjust the seasoning. Blend with stick blender.

Rough weather

Tuesdays are my day off, I'm usually off visiting little Miss Bella, but today is wild, wet and windy.   Flood and storm warnings everywhere.   So I think I'll stay in and add the binding to my Noahs Ark quilt.  Once I've finished it, it'll b displayed on the wall at Lilylane. I choose to have all of my quilts quilted with Jennifer from Lilylane......there is no need for me to tell her what I want, she is spot on at choosing a design that matches the quilt.
